Ensigna Construction is proud to have been appointed principal contractor for the full remodelling of the former Marjorie McClure School site in Chislehurst – a landmark £2.2 million project that reaffirms our commitment to delivering transformative public-sector schemes across education and community settings.
This ambitious project will see the complete refurbishment of an existing educational facility to create a modern, inclusive space for adult services and wider community use. The works encompass internal remodelling, full M&E replacement, safeguarding enhancements, thermal upgrades, and new roof coverings – all within a live borough site surrounded by residential housing, nurseries, and community centres.
Our delivery strategy will ensure the building is revitalised to meet the evolving needs of the local authority. Key features include accessible WC/shower rooms, flexible office accommodation, enhanced security systems, and sustainable finishes throughout. The project also involves structural adaptations, renewals to key infrastructure, and new fire-stopping and safety installations – all aligned to current compliance and building control standards.
Led by our experienced Contracts Manager Charlie Hine and supported by Laura French (Works Manager) and Perry Gardiner (QS), the Ensigna team will manage the build programme with minimal disruption to the surrounding community. In-house SHEQ oversight by Stuart Tate and quality inspections by Adam Marley ensure every phase is executed with precision and care.
As a Chartered Building Company and ISO 9001-accredited contractor, we are driven by pride in workmanship and a proactive, collaborative ethos. Our in-house design coordination, transparent programming, and skilled supply chain enable us to deliver complex refurbishments on time and to exceptional standards.
Marjorie McClure is more than a refurbishment – it’s a renewal of purpose for a vital local resource. Ensigna is honoured to help shape the next chapter for this important civic building.
