Ensigna Construction Achieves Building Safety Act Certification
We are delighted to announce a significant milestone for Ensigna Construction: we are now officially certified to operate under the Building Safety Act (BSA) for both General Construction and Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs). This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, compliance, and above all, the safety of the people who live and work in the buildings we construct, refurbish, and maintain.
Meeting the Highest Standards of Compliance
Gaining this certification demonstrates that Ensigna Construction has met the rigorous standards set by the Building Safety Regulator. These standards demand a high level of competence, robust systems of accountability, and a proven ability to deliver safe, compliant projects under the updated legal framework introduced by the Building Safety Act 2022.
Certified to Work on Higher-Risk Buildings
Being certified means that we are now formally authorised to undertake regulated work on occupied buildings that exceed 18 metres in height or comprise seven or more storeys. This includes residential blocks, healthcare facilities, schools, and other settings where life safety cannot be compromised. Our clients, stakeholders, and residents can have full confidence that our processes, training, and site practices are aligned with the very latest statutory requirements and industry best practice.
Investing in Competence and Continuous Development
This milestone has not come without dedication and investment. In anticipation of the new dutyholder and competence regime, our teams have undertaken comprehensive continuous professional development. Through our collaboration with Playle & Partners LLP, our project managers, site managers, and delivery teams have completed detailed CPD training to deepen their understanding of the new legislative responsibilities and practical safety measures that must be implemented at every stage of a building’s lifecycle.
Additionally, we have strengthened our technical expertise through CITB-accredited training programmes focusing specifically on fire safety in buildings and fire safety within the built environment. These programmes ensure that our team’s knowledge is not only up-to-date but also robust enough to meet the complex challenges associated with higher-risk buildings.
A Commitment to Safety Leadership
At Ensigna Construction, we believe that competence and compliance must go hand in hand with genuine safety leadership. It is not enough to simply meet regulatory standards; we aim to set new benchmarks in how safety and quality are delivered on site. This is especially important when working in occupied buildings, where residents’ peace of mind and day-to-day safety depend on the diligence and expertise of the contractor.
Trusted Principal Contractor for Complex Projects
This certification further strengthens our reputation as a trusted principal contractor for refurbishment and retrofit projects within the residential, healthcare, and education sectors. These sectors often involve sensitive environments and high levels of occupancy, which demand meticulous planning, clear communication, and a strong culture of accountability.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, our commitment is to maintain and build upon this high standard, continually investing in training, innovation, and best practice to ensure that every project, regardless of size or complexity, is delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with current legislation.
Ensigna Construction is ready and equipped to deliver under the Building Safety Act. We are certified, competent, and dedicated to ensuring that every building we touch stands as a testament to our commitment to life safety, resident trust, and construction excellence.
If you have an upcoming project that demands the highest levels of safety compliance and professional competence, we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate how we can deliver it to the standard you expect and deserve.
