Ensigna Construction is delighted to have been appointed by the London Borough of Croydon to deliver the Digital Discovery Hub – an ambitious transformation of the first floor of Croydon Central Library into a vibrant, forward-thinking space for learning, collaboration, and digital innovation.
This £400k fit-out project will convert underused library space into a multi-purpose zone, featuring new meeting rooms, a podcast booth, exhibition areas, a kitchenette, and modern WC facilities – all designed to support community engagement and future-facing learning. Set within a live public building in a town centre location, the works will be delivered with precision programming and careful logistics planning to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing library operations.
With a contract duration of just 9 weeks, the project is a showcase of Ensigna’s ability to deliver high-quality interior transformations on fast-track programmes. Our in-house design coordination team will collaborate closely with OCR Surveying and RA Architects to ensure seamless integration of finishes, services, and new technologies. The scope includes M&E upgrades, installation of smart systems, partitions, finishes, signage, and fixtures aligned with accessibility and sustainability standards.
Led by our experienced project team and supported by a proven supply chain, Ensigna will bring its trademark attention to detail, quality assurance, and proactive communication to every phase of the scheme. As a Chartered Building Company with a track record of delivering public realm improvements, libraries, and educational facilities, we understand the importance of creating welcoming, futureproof environments for all users.
The Croydon Digital Discovery Hub will be a beacon for community learning and digital engagement. Ensigna is proud to play a part in redefining how civic space can inspire the next generation.
