Ensigna Construction has been appointed by Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to deliver critical roofing works to the Bernard Meade Wing—an essential infrastructure upgrade valued at £1 million. This project represents another step in our commitment to delivering excellence across the NHS estate, ensuring that vital healthcare facilities remain safe, resilient, and operational for years to come.

This complex scheme involves the replacement of natural slate roofing systems, extensive scaffolding design and erection in a sensitive hospital environment, and the removal and capping of redundant extract flues—all within a live, acute healthcare setting. The works will be delivered in two distinct scaffolded phases to maintain safety, access, and hospital continuity throughout.

With no margin for disruption to clinical services, our approach centres around meticulous planning, phased logistics, and specialist control measures. Our experienced team will oversee scaffold erection and weatherproofing, strip and renew all roofing materials in line with Trust specifications, and coordinate M&E adaptations with hospital engineers and maintenance teams.

We will deploy proven methods for operating within active hospital zones—employing detailed access planning, contractor vetting, infection prevention measures, and zero-tolerance safety protocols. Our scaffold solution will ensure minimal obstruction to hospital operations, while our dedicated liaison team ensures open, daily communication with the Trust.
