Ensigna Construction is proud to be delivering the first phase of kitchen refurbishment enabling works at the prestigious Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle in South Kensington, London. This £400,000 project supports the future upgrade of catering facilities serving over 3,000 students and staff across one of the UK’s most prominent international schools.
Set within a live, operational school environment, our scope includes extensive demolition and mechanical & electrical strip-out works to the lower ground kitchen, plant areas, and roof-level plant. Key tasks involve the safe removal of all existing kitchen equipment, canopies, cold room infrastructure, A/C systems, ductwork, lighting, and redundant pipework, as well as careful isolation of all retained LV boards and switchgear.
Specialist strip-out of LPHW heating, domestic water, mechanical ventilation, and all associated above-ground drainage is being delivered by our experienced building services supply chain. We are also managing asbestos removal in accordance with R&D surveys and ensuring full compliance with F-Gas, Gas Safe, REFCOM, and NICEIC standards.
Our methodology prioritises safety, coordination, and non-disruption to the school’s daily activities. Access logistics, noise and dust control, safeguarding protocols, and phased handovers are coordinated in close dialogue with school management and the contract administrator.
As a Chartered Building Company, Ensigna brings meticulous planning, transparent reporting, and sector experience in high-footfall educational settings. We are proud to be laying the groundwork for a state-of-the-art kitchen that will serve the Lycée for decades to come—ensuring our enabling works are as thoughtful and high-quality as the final refurbishment itself.
